6-Day Desert Tour from Marrakech to Fes
Itinerary
Day 1: Marrakech → High Atlas → Aït Ben Haddou → Rose Valley → Dades Valley (≈ 6 hrs drive)
Pick-up early from your accommodation.
Drive through the High Atlas Mountains via Tizi-n’Tichka Pass.
Visit the UNESCO-listed Aït Ben Haddou Kasbah.
Continue to Ouarzazate, then through Skoura palm groves and Rose Valley.
Arrive to spend the evening in Dades Valley.
Overnight in Dades Valley.
Day 2: Dades Valley → Todra Gorges → Merzouga (≈ 5 hrs drive with stops)
Morning in Dades to enjoy the scenery and viewpoint walks.
Travel to Todra Gorges, walk through the canyon.
Then onward to Merzouga, arriving in time for a camel trek into the Erg Chebbi dunes at sunset.
Dinner under the stars.
Overnight in a luxury desert camp, Merzouga.
Day 3: Explore Merzouga Region
Wake for sunrise in the dunes.
Day of region discovery: wild lake, palm groves, Khamlia (Gnawa music), nomads, fossil sites, off-road tracks.
Overnight in Merzouga (camp or Riad, your choice).
Day 4: Merzouga → Rissani → Erfoud → Midelt → Ifrane (≈ 7 hrs drive)
Depart desert, stopping at Rissani market and Erfoud’s fossil workshops.
Lunch in Midelt.
Continue to cedar forests (Azrou) to see Barbary macaques.
Overnight in Ifrane.
Day 5: Ifrane → Fes Sightseeing
Morning transfer to Fes.
Half-day guided tour of Fes Medina: Al-Qarawiyyine University, madrasas, artisan quarters, tanneries.
Overnight in Fes.
Day 6: Departure from Fes
Depending on flight times: free morning or optional shopping/rest in Fes.
Transfer to Fes airport or drop-off in the city.
End of tour.
