This 4-day private tour takes you from the cultural capital Fes through the scenic Middle Atlas, cedar forests, and the Ziz Valley. You’ll witness dramatic gorges, ride into the Sahara at Merzouga, spend a night under the desert sky, explore nomadic life, and then return through fossil towns and forested highlands. Ideal for those wanting an immersive desert escape without committing to a longer journey.

Itinerary
Day 1: Fes → Ifrane → Cedar Forests → Midelt → Ziz Valley → Dades Gorges (≈ 8 hrs drive)
Early morning departure from your accommodation in Fes.
Travel through Ifrane (often called “Switzerland of Morocco”) and wander in the cedar forests of Azrou.
Lunch in Midelt. Continue through the scenic Ziz Valley, following riverbanks and dramatic terrain.
Arrive at Dades Gorges via Errachidia and Boumalne Dades, stopping at the “Monkey Fingers” rock formations and lookout points.
Overnight in Dades Gorges.
Day 2: Dades Gorges → Todra Gorges → Erfoud → Merzouga (≈ 5 hrs drive with stops)
After breakfast, drive to Todra Gorge and explore the towering canyon walls and riverside paths.
Continue via the palm groves of Touroug & Tinjdad. Stop for lunch en route.
In the afternoon arrive in Merzouga, then switch to camel for a sunset ride into the dune seas.
Evening: enjoy dinner, Berber music around the campfire under the stars.
Overnight in Luxury Desert Camp (Merzouga).
Day 3: Merzouga Region Exploration
Rise early to see sunrise over the dunes. Breakfast at the camp.
Spend the day exploring the wider Merzouga area: visit nomadic camps, the Khamlia village for Gnawa music, explore the wild lake (flamingos, if seasonal), fossils, and palm groves.
Return to Merzouga for dinner and overnight in hotel/riad.
Overnight in Merzouga.
Day 4: Merzouga → Rissani → Erfoud → Ziz Valley → Ifrane → Fes (≈ 7 hrs drive)
After breakfast, depart desert and visit Rissani’s traditional market.
Continue to Erfoud to see its famous fossil work and workshops.
Drive back through the Ziz Valley with panoramic views, then through cedar forests and Azrou.
Arrive back in Fes in the evening; drop-off at your accommodation.
End of tour.
